Create a Base, Enable Responsibility

Uncategorized Sep 17, 2017

In step two of the 7 Steps to Enabling Your Clients to Master Change, you create a base for them to work from. This means that you provide a place where a person takes responsibility for decisions made and how this person has lived life.

Do you ever talk to someone and you find that nothing you say lands with him? Nothing seems to get through? You're talking to a person who doesn't take responsibility.

No one can create actions, especially emotional actions, until he takes responsibility. If you've got a sprinter, what does she do? She puts her feet in the starting block and pushes off to begin her sprint. Responsibility is like that. It's emotional leverage. Emotional leverage creates action to help people move forward.

Part of the reason that people don't sign with you is that they don't take responsibility. They're like victims. Everything is always the result of something or someone else. You have to get people to take responsibility for their actions.

How To Create a Compliant Practice for Greater Cash Flow

Uncategorized Sep 12, 2017

Many chiropractors are looking to build a compliant, profitable and purpose-driven cash practice. But there's a lot of confusing information about how to organize your practice in order to switch to all-cash, or how to handle cash and insurance in order to have the kind of affluent and compliant practice you're looking to build. On top of that, you're at risk of losing patients if billing and invoicing become too complicated.

Luckily, new technology has been created to help you get your head around the areas of cash, insurance, compliance and billing in general.

The goal for many chiropractors – apart from improving people's overall health – is to create the most value where using cash or insurance doesn't matter. What matters is to create so much value for your care more patients become lifetime chiropractic patients and invest in their health, out of pocket, regardless of insurance.

Brian Capra has created a system to help you make handling insurance, cash and billing...

How to Understand Someone's Internal Language

Uncategorized Sep 10, 2017

In my last post, I spoke about the importance of recognizing the six human needs, and how once you know that, you can begin to move forward with your patients and to enable them to master change. I explore these needs further here.

The first three human needs, certainty, uncertainty and significance, are weakening needs. They're all ego-based. We want to get people into the higher needs of love and connection, growth andcontribution. Once we do that, we create an inspired leader who's going to grow your culture.

To create a breakthrough you must learn which needs people are trying to meet.

By seeing the best in your patients, and feeling what they feel and communicating it to them and asking questions, you're bringing them toward you to accept change.

Speak to their internal language, not to what they're saying.

If you see a person who's 60 or 100 pounds overweight who says he wants to go on a diet, you know that this person has said that to...

The 6 Human Needs and Your Patients

Uncategorized Aug 27, 2017

In my last post, I outlined the six human needs that you need to be aware of in order to bring your clients closer to you and to enable them to master change. They are: Certainty, Spontaneity, Significance, Love/Connection, Growth and Contribution.

Here I'm going to look at them in greater depth.

The first human need is certainty. People need to be confident of such things as knowing that they'll have a home to come to, that they'll have a place to sleep, that they can pay their bills, that they can eat, that their family will be taken care of. People also need to be certain of time and money.

The second need is uncertainty. This seems contradictory at first, but what it means is that people crave spontaneity. If people find themselves in a rut or if they're a little bored they begin to create pattern interruptions. Now some people may do destructive things to create pattern interruptions, while others may do healthy ones. Some people have affairs. Some people...

Understand People's World

Uncategorized Aug 20, 2017

This is the first step of the seven steps to helping your patients change: Be on the same page with them. Bring them closer to you and your work. You can make lifelong clients out of your patients if you learn to speak their language, listen to what they say and, above all, if you coach them rather than sell to them.

The thing is, we want people to understand us. But we often want this without taking the trouble to understand others. We think well of others, but there's still an us-versus-them mentality. But the reality is this: You're the weird one. Think about it. How many people actually live a chiropractic lifestyle? When you first realize that the weird one is you, not other folks, not the people you're connecting with, then you begin to see that you can go to them and bring them to you.

So, understand how others feel. Understand where they are emotionally. Put yourself in their shoes. Feel what they feel and communicate those feelings to them. As I...

Change Your Outlook, Feel More Alive

Uncategorized Aug 13, 2017

The most highly paid people in the country are state-inducers. They change your state. They shift your outlook, they bring you closer, they make you feel more alive.

Why do athletes get millions and millions of dollars? Because people get fired up watching them, rooting for them, being inspired by them. Why do comedians get so much money? Because they change your state. Why do musicians get so much money? Because they change your state. Why does Tony Robbins get so much money? Because he changes people's emotional states.

Now, why do you do what you do? It's not about getting paid. It's about changing people's lives because you focus on changing their state.

In this series of blogs, drawn from my white paper, "7 Steps to Helping Your Clients Master Change," I look at how you can change people's states, and how you can move your patients into becoming lifelong clients. I explore how you bring your clients closer to you by changing their perceptions, by shifting their...

The Physiology of Influence

Uncategorized Aug 07, 2017

In my last post, we looked at the psychology of influence, to help patients see what's best for them. Here let's consider physiology. Now we have focus on the organs, we have meaning, "I feel like a failure." "How's that make you feel?" "It's depressing." "Do you feel that in your body right now?" What they feel in their body wires in their mind, that's what they remember, that's the impression.

Now you go to the exam, they've got to feel injured, so you're going to shift them in their postural distortions. Someone's got a translation, you dig on the side of compression. They got lateral flexion, dig on the side of compression until they squirm so they feel injured. Not pain—pain doesn't motivate people. Injury is why people go see a doctor, so you touch them. You show them where their nerve distribution is, you touch them from head to toe.

How you touch them in the exam and create the kinesthetic experience shifts their physiology. It can actually shift the meaning. Once you...
